So Apple in its infinite wisdom, lunched device financing plan in Canada by partnering PayBright on August 11th, 2021. Initially you are able to finance the devices for 24 month payments and pay tax upfront. So devices like iPhone 12 Pro Max can be paid over 24 months for little over 70 dollars a month.
Just one month passed, today after iPhone 13 announcement, Apple decided to change finance term for their iPhone finance plan. Instead of 24 months, it is now reduced to 6 month. So for entry level iPhone 13 Pro Max, will now cost 258.16 instead of 64 dollar a month. Although upfront tax payment is no longer required.
So what is the point of devices financing plan now? You are more or less better off with carrier financing in Canada, for much lower monthly cost.
Apple just made a excellent financing plan to a pointless one. I won’t be surprised the whole device financing plan will be axed next month.
