If I cancel my iPad order how long does it take for Apple to issue a refund?

I want to do this in case the iPad becomes available at my BestBuy so I can get it now rather than later.

If you ordered it online they don't charge you until it ships.

If the order status is "Prepared for Shipment" you cannot cancel it.

A couple days. And it's not a refund.

They just put a hold on it. So they don't return anything.

I returned my ipad 64gb wifi only model unopened back to the Apple Store I purchased from and received my refund 2 days later. I decided I wanted 3G model is why I did this.

My order says not yet shipped but I've been charged already.

You haven't been charged it's a 'Hold'

It's a hold until "Prepared for shipment" (as a previous post points out)

Look into this it's important with any transaction, so you need to know how this works

Or forever be doomed to ask these questions :D

I ordered a 3g 16Gb ipad today and money was taken off my car as well. Whether its a charge or a hold, all I know is my card is less $663. Which makes me believe, Apple charged my card. If they didn't then it shouldn't take more than a day for the money to be placed back on my card if i wished to cancel. For example when I buy apps through the Android market. I have 24 hours to decide if i like it. If for some strange reason I don't like it, I uninstall it, I'm issued a refund and the money is usually on my card the very next day. A actual charge can take up to 5 business days before it's placed back on the card.

The hold on my credit card was lifted after 4 business days after I cancelled my online order.
That sucks. And let us say if the interest rates had been higher, who benefit's from that? The money isn't visible at the account.
