Does anyone know if there is any way to take out the iphone 3G contract on O2 and cancel before the grace period ends, but instead of returning the phone, pay the rest of it off, since i will have already payed £99 towards the phone?

What would happen if i was to say i '"lost" the phone, surely i would need to pay for the remainder of the phone, or would they make me pay the 18 month contract off.

Anyone tried this?

You would have to pay the full amount due for the 18 month contract.

As everyone said - lose the phone and you still have to pay off the contract if you want to get out of it.
