Canceling AT&Ts plan

Well I just upped for $30/unlimited, and thought it would be interesting to cancel so after 30 days is up I won't get charged the recurring fees.. Well interesting enough it appears that if you let your account remain idle for 60days, they delete your account and you have to re-enter all your info and CC again. That kind of sucks.

AT&T is bending over backwards to offer a rate plan that pleased Jobs price and convenience wise. There has to be a few stipulations in it to encourage people to keep the plan active.

Vs. being charged for a service you don't use? I'd rather fill in a CC again than have to pay $30 for the "convenience" not to.

Question though -- when you cancel does it do so immediately or only after 30 days? Just wondering if you can enroll, pay, cancel all in the same session or if you have to wait to cancel on day 30.

I think it gives you the balance of your days or data. I didnt follow through with the cancel though

I seem to recall seeing somewhere that you can cancel at anytime, and would still have connectivity until the end of your billing cycle. It would be great if someone could validate.

You are canceling the auto-renew *only*, so you can cancel at any time. Remember this isn't like cable TV, whatever, where the service usually stops immediately when you cancel. You bought the month or the 250 MB, and that's what you get.

People who want one month for a vacation, etc., can sign up, cancel immediately, and be sure they won't forget and be charged for the next month. Once you get the 'Activation Popup', you are set for that 30 days.

Normally, recurring billing works that way--cancel and you won't be billed again--but that has no effect on your current subscription.

I think that if AT&T stopped the 3G service after you cancelled, but the plan before the 30 day limit is up, they would be obligated to refund you a prorated amount for the days not used.
