Next week I will be separating from the military and will be moving from Florida to an area in Tennessee where there will be absolutely no AT&T coverage within 20 miles from where I will be living. I thought about trying to get a 3G Microcell but decided not to. Will I have to pay an ETF if I cancel with AT&T? Thanks for any help!

This is not entirely true. Take your AT&T phone with you and if your coverage is sub-par to nothing when you get there, call AT&T and try to work with them.
When I moved to Wisconsin I called in and got the ETF waived because my service there was horrible. I've been with Cingular/AT&T since '03 so that may have had something to do with it but it's always worth a shot.
I thought this is more than likely what would happen. I know other people with other services have had there ETF's waived for similar situations. I didn't know if AT&T would be as helpful. Thanks.
Actually it will be a maximum of $175 depending on when you started your contract. Any contract started on May 28, 2008 or later will have a $5 decrease each month after the first 30 days of service.
If you move to an area with no service, you can cancel, pay the ETF and if you send the required address change information to AT&T you can get the ETF refunded. AT&T will determine coverage at your new location, you don't just get to claim poor or no coverage.
When you cancel make sure you get the correct address to send a copy of your new utility bill or other proof a relocation to an area with no AT&T coverage.
