macOS Canned Response about iPhone Developer Program

Got this via email today. I think I may have emailed support about getting my developer certificate signed.

You got that email if you tried to sign up for the $99 developer program.

Much like the iPhone having two classes of apps (Apple background-capable & third party front-only apps) there are two classes of iPhone developers. There are the corporate/big co developers who have apparently had the SDK for a while including Interface Builder iPhone support, the doctors pill app thing was an example.

And then all the "indies" who rushed to download the SDK only to find there was no IB support for iPhone, you need a code signing cert and provisioning file to move apps to a real device, and you cannot get said files even if you pony up $99.

And you cannot talk about the stuff in SDK because of an NDA, which isn't a big deal, except when you want to actually accomplish anything (without IB and without a real device to test on) you can't really collaborate with others due to the NDA.

Yup, found that out when I checked a apple support thread i'm monitoring.

No a big deal. I just hope that it doesn't take them more than a month to get the certificates out.

In theory, indies CAN get the code signing cert, the problem is that we aren't even being allowed to pay the $99 at this point.
