Hello,

I have a early 2015 13 inch macbook pro. I have replaced my ssd with sabrent rocket about two years ago, but it failed recently. I read through https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrading-2013-2014-macbook-pro-ssd-to-m-2-nvme.2034976/ and noticed SK hynix gold p31 works now, so bought a 1tb one. I installed OSX Mojave on an external drive. I was hoping to use the VM on that to update firmware of the p31. (I tried to create a bootable usb win togo using rufus, but it could not boot).

However, once I inserted the p31, my macbook cannot boot. Halfway through the booting bar it stops, shuts down, and repeat. But once I remove the p31, it can boot successfully.

Have you met similar issues? If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks very much!

Thanks!

I downloaded the latest firmware. The problem is Drive Manager is only available for windows. I am just trying to update the firmware, but I cannot even start the mac with p31 inserted.

Did you updated by win to go created by rufus?

I put the p31 into external enclosure, and tried to use the drive manager from VM windows installed in external drive, but the p31 shows "not responding" in drive manager. I guess the only way to do is to insert it in the mac and boot into windows directly. The problem is I cannot install bootable windows to external hard drive.

External enclosure will not work , insert into Mac logic board slot and boot directly to windows, I’ve used my son windows gaming PC .good luck.

Hello I bought the same disk. HK Hynix P31 Gold.
Can you tell me if you were successful to install inside your macbook pro ?

I'm waiting for mine (delivery).

I'm going to make an USB bootable disk of Windows 10 with RUFUS or WINtoUSB

Sorry I just see this. For some reasons Rufus win cannot boot my MacBook. I had to borrow a win pc to do it. Did Rufus work for you?
