Cannot connect to FTP with mac

I have a Mac Pro never gave this problem untill now. I am using transmit, but can't connect to my FTP. It seems to login and then kick me out. I can't even get to see the folders. I have concluded its not transmit, I also tested Fetch and online FTPs. I cleaned my caches, repaired permissions. Does anyone know whats up? Thanks for the help

Have you try connecting through the finder? (command + K)

You certain it's not something server-side and nothing to do with your Mac?

Can you connect to it from other machines?

Are you behind a router or proxy server that might be blocking port 21? Has anything changed on your local network?

Some FTP servers block IP addresses if they receive too many failed login attempts. You should verify the server has not blocked you.

My favourite FTP client is Cyberduck. You should give it a try.

Yes I am using a Linksys router. How can I check if I am blocking port 21?

Its weird because I tried using a Java based FTP program on my browser, and at the bottom it shows a status, and says Connecting to Port 21::Connection Lost, and repeats.

Ok I used terminal to get on but it doesn't let me type my password

Ok I can officially connect using terminal, but cannot with a client like Transmit. Help!

Could this be related to Passive FTP? Maybe you need to try that in your FTP clients like Transmit or Fetch. According to the manual page for FTP, it uses Passive FTP by default, and only switches to Active FTP if the remote server requires it...

When Terminal asks you for your password the cursor will not move, but it is typing in your password. Just type it and hit enter.
