Hi everyone. I ran into a problem. I cannot download the update 10.15. I looked at this website:
And I followed all the help, and still couldn't update to 10 15.
What must I do to update it? Have others here run into this problem? thanks in advance.

What Mac are you using? And why are you trying to upgrade to Catalina specifically? Can you please provide more details?

You can use Catalina Patcher to download Catalina from Apple's server.

Another option is using OCLP. You can download any version of macOS between HS and Ventura from there without installing the patch. It can also directly flash it to a USB stick.
That's true, I use OCLP myself, but it is a bit more difficult to use for a beginner. That's why I chose Dosdude's patcher.

How so? The UI is pretty simple to use and the wiki is a massive help, it's nicely laid out, telling you how to install the patch and has screenshots for each step of the process to guide you.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but all you need to do is:
- Create macOS installer (which downloads the installer.app of your choice)
- Flash that installer to a USB stick (which is done automatically with your permission inside of the tool)
- Build and install OpenCore to that USB stick (which is brought automatically after the USB stick has been flashed)

After a new update of macOS has been installed, OCLP automatically opens at login and asks if you'd like to re-install the root patches needed for your system. Just click on Install and then Restart.

OP only wants to download Catalina, as far as we know. That's really straightforward with Catalina Patcher.

There are more steps with OCLP, and I can't find Catalina listed there, not in older installers either. Can you?

OP:

Follow the advice in reply 4 above.
Download the macOS Catalina Patcher (dosdude1's utility).
Go to the tools menu.
There is the option there to download a good version of Catalina.

Then...
Create a bootable flashdrive installer.
I recommend either
DiskMaker X
or
Install Disk Creator

... instead of trying to do it through the terminal.

I wanted to download it because for some reason, my facebook messenger wasn't working at all. The chats would not open at all. I still have this problem. So then I decided to download a separate app for facebook messenger. But it won't download it says, because it needs version 10.15. I wasn't aware it was Catalina .I produce music with my Mac, and I was told a while back not to download Catalina because it causes problems if you are using the Mac for music production

Did Facebook messenger at all?
this week that, twitter and other social media had problems.

Catalina works well with Macs released later that decade and 8GB of RAM
but won't run older or 32bit software like older adobe and other programs.
as far as that not processing music or other software, that would be the program, not OS.

everyone else who commented:

as far as OCLP and DosDude, I never had a problem with DOS_dude which is straight forward and easy
AND he provides a great how to video just incase
while OCLP is easy as well, but the steps are confusing and just finding the download at the bottom of the page is not efficient or "busy" as MrMac states, on his how to OCLP YouTube video site.

still Both these users are incredible for keeping our older Mac alive in 2023!
