Hi,
I have an external USB-C SSD disk that I formatted wanted to use as a bootable Ubuntu. It was formatted to MacOS Extended FS before and was working fine. I used disk utility to format it to FAT but now the disk cannot be mounted nor formatted anymore.

If I choose the "Erase" it in the Disk Utility, and choose "MacOS Extended", it makes Disk Utility to crash.

If i chose NTFS or FAT again, it formatting fails with an error "Couldn’t modify partition map"

diskutil info gives me this output:

Any idea how to fix this?
[doublepost=1537547183][/doublepost]oh well, formatting it via the command line helped.

Code:
diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ Emptied /dev/disk2
Started erase on disk2
Unmounting disk
Creating the partition map
Waiting for partitions to activate
Formatting disk2s2 as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with name Emptied
Initialized /dev/rdisk2s2 as a 233 GB case-insensitive HFS Plus volume with a 24576k journal
Mounting disk
Finished erase on disk2
