Cannot leave beta properly, apparently

I have enrolled by August to the beta channel and I thought last week I had unenrolled in preparation for final (using the restore defaults button in the software update panel in preferences). But the RC has just appeared as an available update. I am updating it, as I had terrible problems in the previous beta when I tried to leave it, but I do not know why I am receiving beta updates if I am not enrolled anymore.

Some thoughts? Do I need to do something else to actually unenroll?

I definitively want to leave the beta channel as son as possible. Thanks for your help.

That's not how it works.
To go from macOS pre-release beta to the final version you need to get the final installer from the App Store when it will be available and install it.

So, I will be in the beta channel, receiving updates, until I do this?

Yes, you can stop receiving updates, but there won't be an update from macOS 11 beta to the final release.

Similar issue. I have done the steps to unenroll my M1 MBP from the beta program yet it still is offering me beta updates. I tried going to the app store to download the non beta but it won't install because this version is older. Quite frustrated. Now I get to stare at the red circle with the 1 in it for updates available.

I would update and then run this in terminal
sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Versions/A/Resources/seedutil unenroll
