Hey everyone,
I have a jailborken 3g, on 3.1.2. I have a weird problem. I do not want access to safari on my iphone at all. So thus far, i've tried to restrict it via settings, yet spotlight still brings safari up as a result, and i can easily open it from there, i used poof to make it disappear, (still pops up on spotlight), i used iProtect to lockout the application, yet still spotlight will open it just fine. I don't know what to do, i know there isn't a way to get rid of spotlight in general (i hate spotlight) and if there is any other way, i have no clue. someone please help! thanks.

you can delete it with ssh'ing. it wont come back till you do a restore though. its under the directory "/", then applications, then mobilesafari, then you need to delete everything in there, then everything inside folders in there, then all the folders inside mobile safari, then mobilesafari. or you can just download ifile from cydia and it allows you to delete mobilesafari without deleting the folders one by one. trust me it works. on ipod touch one time i deleted the whole applications folder...and i was left with a dock and the black wallpaper...nothing else.

Just do that. It will be gone FOREVER, until you restore. But seriously...why would you not want Safari?

Hey,
sry, I guess I didn't explain. I didn't think everyone would care about the backstory since it doesn't really change the outcome. I want to get rid of safari because for the life of me I can't find (nor does apple allow officially) any filters (porn, etc.) official or cydia etc. that does all of that. I am now unfortunately using mobicip instead, and hence I do not want access to safari. thanks, let me know

DO you have kids that you dont want accessing your phone or something?

Hey,
I have little cousins that i'm with a lot, so yes for them, and I also don't want access to it myself. Any thoughts or ideas?

Honestly, I see very little smut come across my iPhone browser.

I also try to avoid that trash.

But, I rarely go to sites where that stuff pays for the website costs.

You think your nieces are going to do a spotlight search on your phone to find Safari so they can search for porn? Or you're afraid that you can't keep yourself from searching for porn? Something here doesn't add up.

??? I thought I made it pretty clear. I have younger cousin boys, (in their teens) that I help take care of, who are almost better at tech than I am. so yes, of course I think they would do that. And yes, as I stated earlier I don't want it on there for myself, and my own short comings. I didn't realize the backstory was so important. I'm just curious about how to block it, like I said. If it isn't possible, then fine, but i'm just looking for some help. Shrugs...
