I have an older email account (no longer in use) I want to delete from Apple Mail. But, before I do so, I want to move some of the messages (from the sent folder) to a user defined folder within Mail so they are viewable later on. (A simple task I've done many times in the past...)

When I move the messages, they don't move (or copy) to the new folder. They act like they will move or copy at first, but they don't actually move. With the activity window open, I notice the system is attempting to access the mail server.

The mail is IMAP, but I don't have access to the server anymore, nor can I obtain access. It appears it won't finalize a move or copy without accessing the IMAP server. Any thoughts on how to fix it without accessing the server - presuming the server access is really the issue here?
Thanks...

Try creating New Mailboxes (folders) "On My Mac" and copy the mail to those. I'm thinking that the IMAP account wants to confirm the actions with the server, which it can't.

That didn't seem to help. However, I did attempt to Export the mailbox, then subsequently Import. That placed the messages into a new "Import" folder, which allowed me to relocate anywhere. Seemed to have fixed it.

Thanks.
