Cannot network print

I use a Canon i250 on Windows XP, which uses its own custom software to show print status, and thus the built in OS X Drivers don't work, and the ones on the canon website are designed for when you plug the printer into the USB port, not for network printing.

I tried printfab, but I would prefer a free solution, such as using CUPS or something.

Any ideas?

Have you tried the built-in drivers or the drivers from Canon's Web site?
