Hi -- I am the least technical person out there and have trouble deciphering some of the other questions, so forgive me if this has been asked & answered (I looked through the forums, but didn't even understand the questions most of the time).

I've been using Apple Tv quite successfully since Christmas. Recently, I purchased through iTunes a tv series in HD format. I can watch the shows on my computer but on apple tv it's just a big gray screen. Non-HD shows still play fine. To make matters worse, all purchased movies (non-hd) also display only a big gray screen.

I've downloaded & installed the most recent version of iTunes and reset my appleTV. What else should I try?

Thank you very much,

TKN

I assume all the menus and the like are in color? If not check your cables.

Perhaps try changing resolutions? If its on 720p, try 1080i (if your TV supports that res) if it works at that res, change back down to 720p.

Failing that you could always try resetting the Apple TV - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3199

unplugging & plugging back in worked

Thank you for replying... i've been fighting this for weeks and searching all over for a solution. I finally broke down and scheduled a call with an Apple guru (which I avoid at all costs because it's never once been helpful).

I had to unplug the apple tv to read the serial number and when I plugged it back in everything worked just beautifully. Go figure...
