Cannot reboot with El Capitan

After installing El Capitan, I can't get my MacBook Pro (2012) past the loading screen. It will do a full install, but be very laggy after the install. As result I reboot the machine, only to be stuck at the loading screen. I've tried doing clean install in recovery mode but then I encounter the same issue! I've even used the first aid on the disk utility in recovery mode as well! Help me!!

I restarted the machine, left it alone and went to the movies. When I came back 3 hours later the progress bar was still empty. How's that for patience?

Three hours seems like it should be enough. Do you have a hard drive or an SSD. A hard drive will take longer. I would let it run overnight before rebooting, as I am fearful of screwing up an installation. Forcing a reboot during an installation could leave a computer in an indeterminate state. Perhaps your recovery partition was already set up. If so, you could boot to that and rerun the El Capitan installer.

The issue was not during installation. After the initial install my Mac ran kind of sluggish and I did and regular reboot. That was when I ran into trouble. But I figured out my issue (kind of). I had to do yet another reinstall and (while my Mac still ran sluggish) uninstall nearly all of my user apps and now it runs just fine. There must have been a compatibility issue with one of the apps. Which is weird to cause my machine not to bootup.
