When I first started using this Macbook Pro Laptop, I downloaded and installed a VPN to surf anonymously, and I think it changed my IP address.... :(:(
Now I want to remove that, and am confused as to how to find that VPN on Sierra MacOS 10.12.1 which has now replaced El Capitan.
How can I restore my original IP address please??
Thanks in advance!!

First of all, if it was an app you had to install. Uninstall the app.

Go to whatismyip.com and check under lookup ip what your ip is and who owns it, it's either the vpn or it's your isp's.

Finally, go to the system prefs, and under network make sure there's no vpn or bridge they installed, just remove it.

Thank you.... :):)
I went to whatismyip.com and it said my IP belongs to my ISP, and I do not see anything about a VPN in sys prefs>network, but not sure exactly where to look honestly.
Kind of new to Mac truly, and NEED specifics if possible, but thanks again for responding so fast!! ;)

Loon in the /Applications folder and also all the folders below for the VPN app or launch items related to it.

Code:
~/Library/LaunchAgents (~ is your users folder)
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/Extensions/
