iPod Cannot Restore iPod 3G

Hello macrumors,

I have a 20GB iPod 3rd Generation back from 2003. I changed computers a while back and was going to restore it. However, I am blocked by this message:

I've tried unplugging the FireWire cable, restarting my computer several times, and upgrading to iTunes 8.0.1.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah... totally forgot to reset the iPod.
