I have a iphone 5s GSM, when I try to update from 7.1.2 to 8.1 on iTunes is get a message "cannot update firmware as firmware is incompatible". I understand that apple is still signing ios 8.1 so why cannot I update? I have checked that I have download the correct ISPW firmware for my model, I am using the latest version of ITunes.

Any help appreciated

try download the CDMA ispw. This happened to me before where they have the CDMA and GSM links mixed up.

does it(ipsw file name) say iPhone 6,1? which is GSM not global.

it says

iPhone 5s (GSM) - iPhone6,1_8.1_12B411_Restore.ipsw

my iphone model is A1457

is this the correct firmware I should be using

Why not stay on 7.1.2?

I will never consider "upgrading" before BiteSMS is ready (if ever) for IOS 8.

Noup, Apple is still signing it. Hiranuk, did you put the phone into DFU and than SHIFT + RESTORE?
