I just received my iPad Pro 12.9 today and I got a surprise when I was unable into install my iPad Pro from ICloud. After spending 2 hrs on phone with Apple, it was concluded that when installing your new IPad Pro with you I phone x near it, you will run into issues if you use the I-cloud backup option. This is because IPad Pro ( new ) does not yet support iOS 12.1.2

The default of mac iOS on the new iPad Pro 12.1.1 with no upgrade option. Apple has not yet released the 12.1.2 for IPad Pro. If you try to install it via iTunes you are still out of luck. I had go to App Store and install each application I had on my iPhone on to my new iPad Pro one at a time. Also if you do not buy the USB c to USB converter, you cannot connect your IPad Pro to any of your Mac devices and hence cannot do any upgrade via iTunes. In may case it was Mac book pro or Mac mini.

Had a very painful experience and wanted to share it...any one has had this experience?

Thanks

The 12.1.1/12.1.2 issue is only a problem if you’re trying to restore an iPhone backup to the iPad. Is this what you’re doing?
The other option would be for you to install the 12.1.3 public beta on the iPad, then you’d be able to restore that iPhone backup to your iPad without a problem.

I've been bitten before with my iTunes backup being a newer version than my new device. I had upgraded my old device to the newest version of iOS and made a backup. When I got my phone on launch day the upgrade servers were slammed and I couldn't update the new device. That mean I couldn't restore the backup until this was resolved because the backup was a newer version.

I’m not sure about the rest of your post, but this is not correct. I just connected my new 12.9 pro to my MacBook Pro USB-C to USB-C. No converter required.

You must be having the newer MacBook . Unfortunately both my MacBook and my Macmini does not have USB-C port.
