Cannot update XCode...

The App Store has a button to update it to 8.3, but clicking it just greys out the button without displaying a progress bar

but pressing it does little more than grey out the button.

No error messages appear anywhere that I can find. They sure would be useful.
 
Had that trouble a couple days ago.
It magically cleared itself up.
Try again.
If no go, wait, and try again.
Did Apple just release a new gadget? that often slows things down a lot.
