so i posted another thread but the problem has dramatically changed, so im making this one.

my imac gen1 c2d got a white screen, so instead of fixing it, i put the snow leopard install disc in, opened disk utility, wiped everything, and hit install.

it takes OVER 12 hours to get past "checking catalog file." step

then it says all the pakages and then the install fails with "could not verify essentials.pkg"

other sites say the RAM is to blame, I replaced my aftermarket ram with apple's ram, and I'm seeing how that goes now.
