Great shot.

I've been playing with my dad's Mark II and love it. But, being a poor college student I can only afford something in the sub $1,000 range so I'm about to pick up a T2i. Seems like the best bang for the buck in that range.

It's a great photography camera, not so much for filming though.

Hey iwantamac007 check out my flickr page: Schtumple, I shoot on the 60d, upgraded from the 550d, the 60d is a great camera, perfect in every way, there's a slight issue I've noticed with horizontal noise banding, but unless you know what that is, it's not an issue.

Schtumple - I was under the impression that the T2i can shoot 1080p, which would make pretty good to shoot video, would it not?

Thanks

Guys, thats for the props on the pic.

Schtumple. Great flickr site. I switched from flickr to picasa/google about a week ago.

Im headed to New York this weekend and lookin forwarding to taking some city pics.

I think a tripod will arrive before the 24th too to keep me busy over the long weekend.

No one told me taking pictures was going to be a money pit. I started with an XSI and kit lens but grew out of it when I couldnt get what i wanted out of the camera on a trip to paris. so i upgraded to the 60d + 24-105L...figure it was worth it since it only cost me $1600 bucks...and the 7d alone would have cost me around $1,500. so im pretty stoked.

It can, but you can't turn off the automatic gain control for audio, so unless you have an external sound recorder, it makes for a pretty crappy film camera.

Note: I tried the magic lantern firmware route, you can't use the software with 32GB cards, making it useless for my setup.

I still maintain the 60d is the best all round Canon camera on the market at the moment, it's cheap, filled with features and can produce some pretty sick images. But yeah, photography has cost me over £2000 now, it's ridiculous how much money you can bust out on this, and not even realise.

I'm alright with that. I'm not a video kind of guy. I want a good camera that will let me learn and take good pictures. I hate that the video feature is even on the camera, but it seems to be on every model by almost all brands in that price range these days.

I was looking at the 7d and 60d for a long time, go for the 60d, there's really not a lot in it to be honest... If you're going to use this as a professional setup where you'll have an external mixer plugged into the 60d you'll be 100% fine.

it is really for me to start filming my own stuff as i go thru film school .. not just for projects for school but for me to build up my xp on
for right now ill just have the camera and i will slowly be adding better glass and audio setup and other things i need over time ..

someone is getting me this as a gift .. i originally wanted a 7d but since the 60d has come out i think it will be more than enough for me .. and as i build up more lenses i can always just swap bodies down the road

prime lenses are best, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 100mm will be all you'll ever need, using a kit lens is really not advised, I hate using my kit lens, but i have no choice. If you're on a bit of a budget, 28mm and 50mm are the bare basics you can run on. Don't use them on widest aperture either, they're a nightmare for fast focusing, so easy to push out of focus.
