Canon eos 300d used

Canon eos 300d used for $300. Would this be a good deal? It is a 2005. I don't believe it has been used much, I am meeting the guy tommorrow to take a look at it

no. you can get a 350D for that much, sometimes even less.

yeah, digital reb should be like half that. I sold my XSI with 1200 clicks for $400 with a 4GB SDHC card, camera bag, Optech strap.

You could get a 30D for a little more than that. Besides, the 300D is going to be so dog slow.

Also, a 40D with low clicks can be had for $600. Do NOT buy this. You WILL regret it! go to http://www.fredmiranda.com and check out the B&S forums. Way safer than ebay, and possibly CL.

Seriously, to underscore what HBOC said - the 300D's interface was just horribly, horribly slow. We bought one for work back when I'd just purchased a Nikon D70 for myself - it's absurd how slow that camera's (the Canon) interface was.

Avoid the original Digital Rebel like the plague. It will drive you nuts. If you want to go Canon, don't go any earlier than the 350D.

Even then, i would be weary. I mean as cheap as bodies are getting, why not get the best you can afford. Buying used (depending on how new also) will ensure you are not getting hit with depreciation costs, and you probably could sell it 2 years down the road for a little less than you bought it for.

So for example, you buy a 30D for $350. 2 years from now, you could still get $200 for it. I think rock bottom prices for a semi pro body is about $200. 10Ds still sell for $200.

The original D-Rebel was a great camera when it came out, but is now very old and outclassed out by any of its successors. I'd save up another $100-200 and get a newer rebel, or a 20D,30D, or even 40D.
