canon ixus 870is compatability

Can anyone advise me how to get my new camera (canon ixus 870 IS) to connect to my macbook (mac OSX version 10.5.5) Ive loaded the canon software, but when I connect the camera it is not found. Please help

Are you by any chance connecting the camera through an unpowered USB hub of some sort? Maybe try a direct connection?

I have done some google searches, not really finding anything indicating issues.

Im connecting it using the cable supplied by canon. Is the same that connects my canon eos 400d without any problems. I just cant work it out. Ive also just connected it to my husbands pc without any bother, which is more annoying!!

Yipeeee,

I had to download some drivers that Canon have just added to their website, so it must have been a problem for more than just me!!

Its now working a treat
