My suggestion before buying any camera system is to look at the reviews from various cameras. As for MILC, I personally don't see prices going down on the newer models for Canon and Nikon just introduced their Full Frame MILC cameras and Sony A7 III, Sony A7R III and Sony A9 cameras on on the third generation. I usually go by the advice that one should not buy the first generation, but if you're tied into the Canon Eco System or Canon is your favorite brand then I can see going with it. As for DSLR there are a lot of people still swear by that format and mirror cameras are a proven format for they have years on mirrorless cameras especially when it comes to Full Frame. I personally don't see camera prices dropping in a few months on these new cameras, for most camera manufacturers don't have the market they once had due to smartphones killing the consumer market. They have to gear their cameras towards professional users, thusly they tend to keep their prices on the high side. I seen a lot of people who can't afford the newest cameras going back a generation or two when buying a camera. If I were to go that route I would go the DSLR route and not the MILC route, for they have more of a proven track record when it comes to Full Frame. Sony is basically the only that has addressed the hiccups and complaints on the FF MILC cameras. I think mirrorless full frame cameras are the future, but they are in the baby stage where DLSR cameras are proven and will still be around for a long long time (my opinion).
