Why?

What kind of photography do you practice?
Doesn't the PowerShot suffice your needs?

If you want suggestions, we need more information to help you, as we don't know you and just don't blindly advise you to buy the latest Hasselblad.

Also your thread title is not very descriptive,

What spinnerlys said, can't give any advice without knowing what you want from it.

If you want better low light, a DSLR always trumps Powershots (and most other pocketable cameras), but if you want a huge zoom, you're better off with a Powershot since an equivalent focal range for a DSLR would set you back about as much as the camera-body itself.

(1) First and foremost, what is your budget?

These "what thing should I buy?" threads are difficult enough without the OP forgetting to mention how much he's willing to spend. (i.e. You're not going to get a ton of mileage out of 300 euros, if you're looking to buy a DSLR.)

Once you have that down, you can tell us (2) what you don't like about your current camera, and (3) why you think an SLR will be a better choice.
