I upgraded to the iPhone 13 Sunday and had to re-setup my pairing with Mr. Powershot and forgot how to do it. I was playing with the settings when suddenly the camera would not turn on. I had to take the battery out and then re-insert to get the camera to work again. Perhaps a bug in the Canon software? I have tested the camera everyday since then and have not had a problem. I know I am out of warranty from Best Buy and I'd hate to have to replace Mr. Powershot with another Powershot so lets hope this was just a bug and not a hardware fault. Has anyone else had such a problem with either a Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc..?

Yep. Just move on. Wireless connectivity between phones and cameras is at best flaky. I suspect this is because the iPhone is compliant with the low energy Bluetooth and Wi-Fi standards (for better battery life) and the Powershot is still compliant with the older standards and they had a hiccup. It isnt a hardware fault it is just the way it goes.

I sure wish Powershot on Mac had as many features as Powershot software on iPhone for WIFI transfer like the ability to select what I want to transfer.

I have never bothered using the wireless connectivity between any of my cameras or my iPhones. Not worth the hassle for me. When I want to get my images into the computer from the camera, that's why I have a card reader. If I take a few shots with my iPhone and want to get those into the computer, I simply air drop the chosen images.

Airdrop??? iCloud images auto transfer to the computer.

I should have explained that I don't use Photos in either my iPhone or the computer, so that is why no auto-transferring via iCloud. I don't necessarily WANT all of my images auto-transferring anywhere.

Usually when I shoot something with the iPhone, it's just a quick snapshot and I'll look through the images and choose only one or two to actually airdrop to my computer, and delete the rest.

I don’t want my photos auto transferring to a social media service.

I don't auto-transfer anywhere and certainly not to a social media service! I have social media accounts but do not share my photos on there; my photos are shared in other places such as at MR and on my gallery hosted by Zenfolio.

Yes, the ability to select what one wants to edit and later to share is very important to me and other photographers. This is why I am not interested in auto-transferring directly from my camera or iPhone to the computer; certainly not directly to the internet!

I will just batch dump everything to the computer and either edit or let it sit there.

When I have been out shooting I come home, take the memory card out of the camera, stick it into the memory card reader, transfer the file of all of the images I just shot to the computer, and then after that review the images and edit those which I decide are worth the time and energy. After they've been edited I may or may not share them everywhere, but I will often at least put them into my online gallery as well as having them available in a file for sharing in email or uploading to sites such as MR. Anything not selected for editing usually gets discarded.

Is it possible that the camera goes into a "sleep mode" after a certain amount of time? All cameras do that to save battery power. If you remove and reinsert the battery while the power button is on the ON (energize) position the camera turns on. However, to avoid the possibility of damaging the camera, one should turn the switch off before removing/reinserting the battery.

If the camera is connected to the computer via a cable, then the camera should be ejected from the computer, and then turned off.

I’m going to bet the 13 will be a lot better camera than the power shot by a mile.
