Canon TS5000 series - Big Sur won't open scanner app on M1 Mac mini

I have an all-in-one printer+scanner Canon TS5000 series. The printer works fine, but when I click on "Open Scanner" (in "Printers & Scanners") nothing happens. It won't open the scanner app. For now I am using an old Canon utility as a workaround. It was working on Big Sur on my Intel iMac. Do you know if there is any M1 compatible software for these printers? I couldn't find it. Thanks!

Exact same issue with my Brother L2540DW. Works fine on our Intel Mac's with Big Sur. But image capture on my Mac mini M1 can not see the scanner.

Same here with a Brother DCP=L2530DW.

- Can't open the scanner from the Printers & Scanners preferences.
- Doesn't appear in the Devices section in the Image Capture app, but does appear in the Shared section and I can scan that way (going through my other Mac I assume).
