iPad Pro Can’t access photos in iMessage

I click the camera on messages and it opens the camera but I cannot access photos like I can on my phone. If I go to the photo i can send it that way without issue. Maybe I am missing something.

Tap the Photos icon in the App Drawer (row of app icons below the camera icon).

Nope, the photos icon is missing. This

They’re different icons. You need to tap on the rainbow flower. The camera app on iPad doesn’t have that icon.
