So I got el cap running on my rMB12. I can't access any SMB shares. I have a WDmycloud NAS, and a Linux file server. They both always worked before upgrading, and they also work on my rMB with Yosemite and on my windows box and phones. They show up under network but when I click on either one of them, it says connection failed. I can access everything however from Menu/Connect to server and specify IP/Folders.

Any thoughts? Otherwise I really like el cap. Much faster on the rMB then Yosemite with better battery life (unless it's just in my head)

if it worked before and does not work now it could be compatibility issues between the WD MyCloud and Linux server and El Capitan. For now make a time machine backup erase your disk and use internet recovery to reinstall Yosemite. Apple will not give you any support whatsoever because you are running a beta release. Once El Captin is officially released and you have updated to the official version please contact technical support if your issues persist at 1-800-MY-APPLE

^^I was not asking for Apple's help. Wiping and going back to yosemite would very much defeat the purpose of Beta testing....

Great advice indeed....

Well just putting it out there that if it worked in Yosemite and you change nothing but upgrading to El cap public beta and all of a sudden it doesn't work there is a simple fix for now until release of El Cap on the 30th. If the issue still persists in the final release then of course Apple will want to find a fix for it. Just as a side point a great way to play with beta software and I do this myself is to set up a second partition and install the beta software on to it. That way your everyday work flow is not disrupted and you can play around with the beta at the same time. The fact you can access the shares one way and not another may indicate however an incompatibility between El cap's normal network stack and the SMB shares. Finding bugs like this is the exact point of beta testing. Attempting to fix them though when odds are they may be fixed in the final release will probably only cause you grief. it's so close to release that I may say just access them however you can for now and then upgrade to final release and call in if the issue persists in final release.
