When I add a login item in the Users and Groups preferences, and then log out and log in again, the login item not only doesn't get launched, but actually disappears from the list of login items. How can I make my login items stick from one login session to the next?
EDIT: I have discovered that I can't delete login items either. I'm guessing that this is a file permissions problem, but I can't see anything obviously wrong with the permissions in the folders concerned. Disk Utility found nothing. This is the sort of time when equivalents to MS Windows' SFC and DISM commands, and also to its troubleshooters, would very handy for repairing this kind of problem.
