Can't Add Songs!

Me too. Every time I plug in my iPhone, I get an error that says "Could not Complete the iTunes request. the store may be busy" it does the same thing when I click the link sent in the activation complete email. I think it may have something to do with that.
However, I am able to sync music into the iPhone.
Yes, this option works, but I don't want to sync a playlist, I want to just drag and drop songs. ANyone else?
Maybe it is because of the iTunes traffic issue.
I can sync an entire playlist, or purchased music, but cannot add just a song at a time to my iPhone. Seems like it is all or nothing.
When I turned the automatic synching off, I got a warning that all music synched would be deleted from the iPhone... which it did. After that I still was not able to individually add a song at a time.
Hope someone can figure this out

Yes, it appears there is no manually loading of songs/videos/etc onto the iPhone. I really hope they fix that soon.
What difference would it make? I guess I simply don't understand, not trying to make an issue of it, just not sure why it's important to you.
No joke, this is a serious PITA. I have 160 GB of lossless audio and manually syncing is the only way to fly.
I guess for now an "iPhone Playlist" will be created to which I'll add everything I want on the phone, but that seems strange to me.
The only real way this would become cool is if they add wireless sync and adding items to my playlist will make it automatically sync when i get into wifi range.

In the e-manual it states you have to make a playlist if you want to manually manage items. This will no doubt be changed in the first update, because it sucks. I thought something was wrong, so I restored my iPhone and now I can't activate it again.

Isnt dragging the songs to a playlist basically the same as dragging them to the iphone?
I dont get where the issue is here... and this is coming from someone who has ALWAYS managed their songs manually...
Everytime you get sick of your current lineup just dump the playlist and start a new one... it's all the same really.

It sucks when you have things separated into different libraries. For example, you have movies in one library and music in another (because they don't fit on the same drive otherwise). Also, if you don't keep your videos organized in an iTunes library and you just want to drag them into the iPhone. If you re-encode a movie to play on your iPhone once, you don't want to go through the hassle of putting that into your iTunes library when you're just going to delete it immediately.
No. Although dragging to a playlist works essentially the same as dragging to the phone itself, I have to keep all of that music on my computer.
I listen to mostly Apple Lossless format (all of my CDs are ripped that way). Considering the phone has but 8 GB, Apple Lossless would eat that room for lunch, so I must convert all of those songs to a more space efficient format (AAC @ 256), AND keep them on my computer. So rather than just having my Apple Lossless files on my computer, I must have both the Apple Lossless (what I listen to at home via Airport Express) AND the AAC files, thus hogging room on my hard disk.
I too want to be able to manage my music manually, without worry that if I try and delete songs from iTunes (so that I don't have to have a redundant library), that they will too be deleted from my iPhone.
For me, manual loading (without synching at all) is necessary so that I don't have to have 2 copies of virtually every song in my library. Some people lke to sync, others don't. Apple should provide us with a choice.
