My dad is on a business trip in New York City and I am trying to chat with him through audio or video... and neither are working. iChat AV usually works fine ... we are both on a PowerBook G4. He is updating to 10.4.3 right now, so maybe that has to do with the problem. His version of iChat is also different, but not by much. We also tried it while he was in the SoHo Apple Store. He was on an iMac G5 and I we couldn't even connect then. It has to be something on our network. Are there any certain ports I have to open? Please help, thanks!

Edit: I got it to work! I ended up turning off our router's firewall and opening up a bunch of ports. Is it dangerous to leave the firewall off? My dad and I both use a Mac for our main systems, my sister uses a PC and my mom occassionally uses both her PC and iBook. I'm just stating this because of security reasons.

Anyway, can someone please test the video chat with me real quick? It can only be for a minute. You must be a Mac and iChat AV user. :) My screen name is appleaddict921. Thanks in advance!

Edit 2: Ugh! It isn't working again...............

Edir 3: Success! :D I enbabled UPnP in my router's configuration settings and now it works. I successfully video conferenced with another Mac user and the video and audio was amazing! I can't connect to my ex-girlfriend, but she is at school behind a firewall, so I am sure that's why. Although she said she turned the firewall off... ah, it doesn't matter. As long as it works with fellow Mac users, I'm happy. :)
