I got tiger install discs for my emac but I cant get it to run the install. I tried putting the disc in and clicking the restart button on the screen that says "Welcome to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger", but when I click it it just restarts my computer and does nothing. I then tried the alternate install it did the same thing it did nothing but restarted my eMac. I then tried restarting my computer while holding c key nothing once again. Then I tried holding down apple, option, f , and o keys and then typed in cd boot and also tried cdrom boot nether of them worked so i restarted and tried dvd boot/dvdrom boot nothing worked on all the occasion i got a grey screen with a circle with a line through it. What do I need to do to get these install discs to work?

Are those installation disks gray restore versions for the exact model you have or are they for another model or are they retail versions?
And are they DVDs or CDs?

Any more specifics? Like what are they the copies from? A retail version, the gray restore CDs for that specific eMac model or some restore CD for another model?

The gray restore CD/DVDs, that come with every Mac are specific for that Mac model, so you can't use restore DVDs from a 13" MBP (2010) on a 15" MBP(2010) or even a 13" MBP (2009).

You can contact Apple for the specific CDs for your eMac.

You can take a look here at the various eMac models to find out which one you have.

They are from a retail disc. I did contact apple and its gonna cost me 32 dollars for both discs from apple seeing how this came with panther and i will need to use the upgrade discs i do have to make it back to tiger. Also on the link you gave to find out which one i have it was the last one on the list with the 1.42GHZ G4 Power PC

the eMac 1.42 came with grey disc's osx 10.4.4 to be precise , i own two of them (last models both shipped in 2006 )and the original disc's ..handbooks and everything , as otherwise i just don't buy a used mac everything like it came from apple or nothing the last one even came with the original box and inserts for the box :)

so maybe your disc is badly burned , and if you made a copy you should have kept the original disc , as that what i do as the originals are in a folder with the handbooks and well protected to keep everything in as new condition ;)

have you tried to play any other dvd on it as if you have the combo drive ,its known that the dvd part tends to break down !

That eMac came out in early May 2005, Tiger was released in late April 2005, so generally you should get Tiger installation CD/DVDs, but if you already have them, then that is no problem as it seems.
