Can't boot into anything. Help

I tried today to use bootcamp and had difficulty. I tried to remove it and cannot boot into anything. I tried to boot from the mac dvd and it isn't seen by the computer. It says to install a boot disk and press any key. When I do, nothing happens. What can I do? Is there any way to not lose my data?
Help.
