Hello All,

I tried installing Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 on my MacBook in a Bootcamp partition. It installs just fine, I am able to set it up and install updates, but when I reboot, I can't boot into Windows. It always fails. The install takes about an hour and updates take a couple after that. I install the drivers for the trackpad, display, isight, etc. but as soon as I reboot, bam, it fails to boot into Windows (constantly rebooting).

Is this a Windows issue or a Mac issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

(I've installed 3 different times and the same result, after booting into Windows and rebooting the system it fails).

Thanks,

Install Parallels Desktop trial. Access BootCamp partition through that. Do all windows updates.

Should then work fine from there.

How are you trying to install? On an older Mac, Windows 10 isn't supported, but I did have luck getting Win 10 CU on my Mac Pro 4,1 by installing 8.1, then installing all boot camp drivers except the nVidia ones (you can delete/rename that folder on your USB Bootcamp drive so it won't install), and then upgrade to 10. For whatever reason, the older nVidia drivers are an issue with 10.

Well the thing is with even 8.1 as soon as I reboot its like Windows is corrupt and it just continuously boot loops.

Edit: I’m installing from a usb drive (faster than dvd)

Its probably more about Windows update issue... as you said only after you install updates and reboot it fails.. therefore its not a Windows problem... its after u apply update issue.

I have the same problem, which has been recurring since Windows 10 updated to v1709 last Fall. It seems to be an issue caused by windows update. I can downgrade to 1703 and it works fine for a while, then upgrades and subsequently refuses to boot. What I do now is, on the Mac OS side, make a full clone of my Widows install using Winclone. Then when Windows fails to boot, I restore Windows from the backup. It will work for a few reboots until windows update mucks it up again. I've tried everything to prevent it from updating, even calling windows tech support and having them disable the v1709 update, and manually turning off Windows update, but without fail it turns itself back on, updates, and then fails to boot. I suspect it's related to a Bootcamp driver not being compatible with the latest Windows 10 version.

I've called Apple about it but they fail to acknowledge the problem. Microsoft wasn't much help either.

I'm on a the latest 2017 27" iMac running High Sierra, so it's not an issue about running Win 10 on older hardware.

When I used bootcamp for Windows 10 on a cMP I used to have, I didn’t even use Anniversary update. I downloaded the latest available ISO from MS, which was Fall Creators. It installed without any trouble. Might be an issue where it doesn’t want to update, but a clean install from an ISO might get you there.

I've installed it clean with the v1709 Fall Creators ISO. It works until I run the Bootcamp installers, after which Windows will no longer boot. That's how I narrowed it down to a possible conflict between the Bootcamp drivers and the latest Windows OS, on my particular system, which is the latest 27" iMac.
