Hi guys,
I'm using OS X currently and would like to install OS 9.1.However, i cant seem to Boot UP the Power G4 OS 9.1 CD which I burn as a Back up and my Orignal CD is not with me as I'm out to work for Mths.

I used toast section CD2CD not the data Tag I remember that. Any other way to make it Bootable???

I can see the contents in th Cd
all i need it to get the Power G4 CD OS 9.1 (back up) to boot up so that i can install in the 2nd Partition.

I need help!

Thanks!!!!

What machine are you running? If it is any machine Apple released in the year 2003 don't try any further to install OS 9.

If it is prior to a 2003 machine, which model and what speed? Are you trying to boot off an external drive or an internal? (Try the internal first, and restart your computer with your back-up copy in the internal drive by pressing and holding the C key.)

The following G4 model machines may frown at specifically OS 9.1:

All G4 iMacs
All Quicksilver (non-graphite) Powermacs
All Powerbooks with processor speeds at or above 550MHz (overclocking doesn't count, big shots!)

you can't install it that easily on a new 17" iMac. if it's THAT important, i think there might be a few hacks out there that will allow you to do it, at your own risk, as it may completely mess up your computer.

As mnkeybsness said, you can find hacks to operate OS 9.

With your iMac G4 1GHz machine you can use classic. Unless you are willing to risk using such hacking utilities, which is more likely a worse case than trying to install OS 9 yourself, you are officially S.O.L.

Also, don't bother trying to boot off an OS 9.2.x CD to your G4 iMac, either. It has the same effectiveness as the OS 9.1 CD, as your machine sees ANY OS 9 CD as a circular, cardboard disk.

yep there is nothing you can do, unless you get a nem boot rom, which probably cant be found on the internet, sorry. why do you wnat to go back to 9 anyways.
