Hi Folks,

I have had a MacBook since August, and I recently started to experience a problem that has never occurred up until now.

When refreshing my work from screen saver mode, the touchpad and keypad were totally unresponsive. I had to shut it off by holding down the power button.

I disabled the screen saver, and it seemed to wake up from sleep fine, so I thought, ok, maybe this is a screen saver thing. Now, after a few days of working fine, it's doing the same thing when I wake it up from sleep - no response from the keyboard or touchpad.

It's really freaking me out. I have all the latest firmware/software updates. It's frozen while I've had Word open, and when I've had Firefox open. It never happened before last week.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar? I'm doing my final term papers for school, so dropping it off for repair is not really an option right now.

Thanks

I had the exact same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. After hours of phone conversations with the apple care reps and customer relations reps I finally got them to send a replacement to me. I still have not recieved my computer. It has been 2.5 weeks, but that is most likely due to the holiday season.

It has happened 2-3 times on my MacBook too. I also have recently had it kernel panic when I close the lid (finding it later with the fans full blast and it pretty hot).

I hear a lot about this issue. I think it's a general Mac laptop issue.
