I really want the AirPods and was hoping Apple would announce an updated version today. At least minimal improvements and/or new chips inside (W2?). If the originals were discounted down to $99 I would get them, but with prices in the $144-$159 range, I just can't pay full or near full price on 2-year-old tech.

There was never any indication that new AirPods were ever going to be announced today so not sure why anyone would be surprised. A matter of fact, the only rumors indicated the release of updated AirPods to be next year sometime. I just bought mine a few months ago and couldn’t be happier with them..

I’m going to get them. Was waiting to see if 2’s were coming.

I just did a Give Back on a 6Plus getting $100 that I’ll use toward AirPods.

I just got them and are really impressed, they work so well and easy. My only issue is I wish they had more physical controls but overall super happy with them

Sales are high enough so they won't release new ones until sales go down to a certain point. Unfortunately.

I hope new version comes out so I can pick up the current ones at a discount price.

I think it is impossible to put a volume control in its size form. Unless they let you tap right to increase and tap left to decrease volume.

Once you get over the fact that you paid like 10x compared to what the same audio quality would cost with a cord attached to it, then its like the best earphone ever. I would never go back to wired earphones. The sense of "freedom" you feel when using these is hard to describe. Just buy and be happy :)

Other wireless headphones that are smaller have them. The Samsung ones have a small area that you swipe to change the volume.

bought mine this past weekend while at Verizon. Traded in my 128gb 7 Plus for the 64gb XR, so my bill was going to drop regardless. they gave me $315 for the 7 Plus, so I put it towards the taxes on the XR, a case and a pair of Airpods.

Considering how much I've been enjoying them, I'm not sure why I didn't buy them sooner.

Tech hasn’t changed in any significant way since the AirPods came out. If I didn’t already have them I’d buy now.
