this started with the ios 13 public beta...

i can swipe up to open my XS, or close an app. but it takes a LOT of swipes before the app switcher appears.

am assuming it's a software issue, since the other 'swipe up' functions work.

anyone else? and any ideas?.....

EDIT: it works if i pause after swiping, so will do that (at least, for now)...

I think is because swiping up is now used to return to the home screen. I seem to recall reading that swiping up and left or right will open the app switcher. I hope it becomes smoother, right now it’s a bit clumsy

seems 'swipe & pause' is the way to go? is this true for others? easy enough to adapt, but wondering if this is the new behavior... or a problem i'm experiencing...

I did not even know about the above - thank you - very useful!

As for the App Switcher, I’ve always swiped up and to the Right (being right handed) in the shape of a lower case

r

That’s worked for me and continues to in iOS 13.

As is well documented on here, the Swipe Away to Close gesture is less responsive on the latest Beta, however.

thanks! seriously, i don't think the 'swipe to the right' does it, it's the pause... try swiping up, and pausing.

but just mentioning this. since that works for you, it works!

Here's the gestures I think you can do from the bottom: -

- A short (about the height of the dock) swipe up from the bottom brings up the dock only
- Longer swipe and release goes to home screen
- Longer swipe up until windows/spaces appear to left (and possibly right) and flick left or right to fast switch. Much like moving between Mac spaces
- Longer swipe up until those windows/spaces appear to left (and right) then let go for app switcher

Am I missing any?

I also swipe and then turn to the right usually for the app switcher. There was a huge delay when swiping and pausing when the X came. Now it’s actually a valid option as swiping and as soon as you stop the swipe and let go the app switcher opens. It’s really quick now. I’m not running the beta so all issues I’m hoping is a bug

Per Apples website the “correct “ method for X series is the swipe and hold. I got an Xr literally the day before dev beta 1 dropped so not much of a point of reference for me.

I just hope the make it smoother than it is now.

Yes I’ve never had to pause either in iOS 12 or 13.

As soon as we start installing apps on our iPhone’s though they all become different as we know so experiences will vary during the Beta.
