Can't burn any discs!

I've got a MBP, it's got a super drive in it, when I open "About this Mac", it shows that CD write and DVD write are supported. When I open disc utility and insert a blank disc, it will either say Write Ability: Read Only or when I insert a blank DualLayer DVD into, it says the same thing, anyone know whats going on? Thanks!

Yup, about 4 different ones...still same problem.

I think there is a technote that says try to reset the PRAM and the SMC.
