Hello.

Since purchasing iLife '04 I've been very pleased with GarageBand and very disappointed with iPhoto. First, it would not display all my pictures. (I simply got white "blanks" as thumbnails.) The pictures were still on the HD so I gathered them all up and ended up re-importing them. The only problem now is that I have a lot of doubles.

My next problem involves burning discs in iPhoto. I just can't do it. I get the spinning beach ball for an eternity it seems and then some sort of error. I've already made a half dozen "coasters" and it's getting annoying. (My wife would like our digital pics on both our PC and Mac.)

And, as if that wasn't enough, my hard drive has started making strange noises when waking from sleep. It sounds like grinding gears for an instant. Needless to say, I want to back up my stuff as soon as possible.

I'd appreciate any help.

Cheers,

Squire

Squire,

this may not apply in your situation, but I made a few coasters, too, at first in iPhoto by putting the blank cd into the drive prior to being prompted to do so by iPhoto, and by clicking the burn button prior to iPhoto being ready. In other words, sit there waiting until iPhoto prompts you to do something after selecting the files to burn, then respond to the prompts. Let's hope it is this simple!

JDar,

Thanks for the tip. I've made the same mistake before.

I tried again yesterday and it worked. The progress graphic (looks like a horizontal, blue and white barber shop pole) was not moving and the burn icon (the black and yellow "radioactive" one) was moving very slowly. But I tried the discs afterwards and they worked.
