Can't check Mail in iCloud preferences

I use most of the iCloud services in Yosemite and they work fine just like they always have on Mavericks, etc.

Today I opened the iCloud panel in preferences and tried to put a check next to Mail. The spinner goes and it says "Setting up..." for about a minute and then stops and unchecks the box. So I can't set up iCloud mail.

Anyone else get this?

I may be wrong, but I think that only works for iCloud email (using a iCloud address).

Ha, that's what I'm trying to turn on...iCloud Mail.

Anyway, I think it's happening because I have the mail library folders symlinked to a sparse bundle for the one account (gmail) i have setup in Mail. I noticed Mail chokes and dies if I try to create ANY other account in Mail.
