Can't complete installation(urgent!)

I have just installed a new SSD drive and have set up a new bootable el capitan usb drive via diskmakerx. I downloaded th .dmg from AppStore. I then booted with the usb drive and formatted the SSD with Mac journal extended and GUID. Started to install and then it stuck on 1 sec for 15-20 min and then a error message appeared. Saying "Couldn't complete copy". I have tried two times and formatted again but same result. Really need to use my computer so any suggestions on how to fix this?

What model Mac are you using?
You may need to reinstall your original HDD so you can use your computer while this gets sorted.

MacBook pro 15" mid 2009.

As you say, that's always an option to get the computer up and running. Could it be that I use a cheap 8gb usb drive? Did I have to use a 16gb, some sites states this but since the .dmg is ~6gb it should be enough?

You could try another USB thumb drive, but the 8 Gb size should work. If you are concerned about using a small cheap USB drive then you could try a better 16 Gb as a test. If that does not work then maybe try the process below.

I had a feeling it might have been a MBP. One possibility is the old internal HD ribbon cable has degraded to marginal performance. It may work ok for the slower data rate of a spinner HDD but it starts having errors at the faster data rates of a SSD. A way to test it is to install your SSD in a external enclosure and install El Capitan on the SSD. It will be a slow process because of the external drive. If it works then that would point to a problem with the internal HD cable. If the installation works and you put SSD in your MBP and start having problems then that would also point to a internal HD cable problem.

Thanks for taking your time. I formatted a 500gb fw800 drive to boot Yosemite and had same problem. Then tested with the El Capitan dmg again and same problem. So the usb drive wasn't the problem. I guess what you say might be a problem then or just that the disc it self is faulty? I'll buy a new SSD tomorrow and try with. But om not really following, shouldn't that cable handle speed from an SSD? I mean have seen many videos of people with 2009 MPB installing SSD. Hm. Now when trying to install it's not even trying it seems. It's almost immediately stating the error message. That's strange to. First time I tried it at least went trough the whole process and then gave an error.

I have similar problem, I can't instal the latest OS X 10.11.1 update on my Macbook pro 13 early 2011, the progress bar stuck at 95%, I have 8 gb of RAM and 250 gb SSD Crucial CT250BX100, TRIM is enabled. I already restored my macbook two times via the time machine, and i don't know what to do!

I bought a new SSD drive and then it worked perfectly. Strange though because it didn't seem to be any wrong with the other SSD but well. Good that is finally up and running thanks for your help!
