Hello MacRumors,

First time I've posted and I've got a big problem.

I can't connect to anything apple related, save for discussions.apple.com for some reason.

This means I can't connect to apple.com or any pages stemming from that (i.e. apple.com/mac), the App Store, iTunes, Messages, etc.

When trying to connect to apple.com through chrome, it says that it "Can't find apple.com", and Safari says I'm not connected to the internet.

When trying to access the App Store or iTunes, it also says I'm not connected to the internet. I obviously am.

I have a Mid 2012 retina MacBook pro running OSX Mavericks.

I'm also on a university wifi network.

Please help

Welcome to the MacRumors site! ::smiles::

.

Why not do a search (I use Startpage...) for Apple store and click on one of links which is presented?

Perhaps there's some little thing not quite right about the url you're using.
Once you get to the store you can look for specific links to where you want to go.

Oops, I guess Chrome/Google might not want you going there??
J/K ;)

Why not try the same thing in Safari? It's right there in your MacBook.

Sounds like your University's firewall is blocking access to Apple sites. Can you get to any social media sites? Universities sometimes block those as well.

Hello, thanks for the response, but as mentioned in my post I've tried using safari. I've also tried accessing the pages mentioned from a search engine, although I'm not sure what the difference from accessing the page from a search engine, besides clicking a link instead of typing in the url, than accessing the page directly.

Also this does not address the problems I have connecting to the App Store, Messages, and iTunes, as these are not websites, but programs.

This seems more likely, although I haven't yet found a site that my university blocks. It would seem strange to only block apple.com and any subdomains. I guess it's just some error on the IT end.

Thanks for helping guys

There was a problem with their site yesterday, I think. Many of the pages wouldn't load or would 404 on me.
