I can't copy/paste photos from Preview into Messages. I currently have a photo open in Finder. I click on it, view it in Preview then Copy. But the Paste option isn't available when I try to put it into a message. I have to forward it to Messages then enter the person's name to send it. I'm pretty sure I used to be able to copy/paste at one time. It's been like this since at least last year. I've finally got tired of it and trying to find a fix.

Checking to see if anyone else is having this problem or if this is the way it's supposed to be.

Maybe I'm not understanding you? I open a photo in preview, select Copy from the Edit menu, click in the text box in messages and then paste. Works as expected for me. But why you are going through the extra step of opening the image in Preview (unless you're editing it)? You can simply drag the image from the Finder into the text box in messages.

I've always (or at least I think I've always) gone into Finder - Pictures then selected the photo, up to Edit - Copy then pasted it into the message. I prefer to do it that way over opening the photo in Preview then selecting to forward it in a message. I don't know if something changed at a point? I can drag the photo from Finder - Pictures into a text message. That works fine. Never did it that way before but it will probably end up being the preferred method.
