So I'm definitely getting a macbook this week. However, I have a dilemma...should i get the low-end model (1.83GHz/512mbRAM) or the upgrade model (2.0GHz/1gbRAM)??? Please help. I won't be using it for VERY much- just Microsoft Office, iPhoto, iTunes, Safari, and a couple of other included apps. Just want everyone's opinion.

NO! My only two options are those two computers. Which one suits my needs most?

The upgraded one. I've seen how slow the basic model runs, and mine's slow enough running word and it's the upgraded version.

Also, you get a DVDRW drive which you don't get with the basic model.

Yeah I undernd everyone's points. I'm using an HP Pavilion ze4900 with 256mb RAM and 40 gig hard drive. So anything is better!!! I think I'm going to go with the better WhiteBook. Its just more practical.

You need 1gig for osx to run smooth. if you upgrade the ram to 1 gig the lower end model will.
