So I updated, and really does nothing for me because the street views are not available where I live....anyway I was checking my email like normal, and I went to delete some of them and I got a message saying "The message could not be moved to the mailbox trash"...

Never seen this before so I'm wondering if this happened because of the update or something else...

Thanks

I think it's a bug with the update. My safaribis fast though an doesn't crash anymore. But I check my gmail and it's working fine. Just by aol is acting really fishy.

Mine is doing that too. It says that but the email gets moved somewhere, as it's no longer in my inbox. Hm. I only use AOL's email service because I've had that address for years and years and I think it'd be a pain to change all my accounts and tell all my friends about a new address. I do have a Gmail account as well and I have no problems there.

Ok... 3 things

First, this problem was not happening to me on my AOL account... it was happening to me through my .me account ...

Second... Do some of you really look down on others just because of the words that are typed after the "@" in a email address ? .... that's pretty sad... and it kinda makes you sound like a smuggy a$$..;)

anyway.. for the rest of use that was having the issue, either with AOL or what ever service you have, for some reason it fixed itself after a day for me.

thanks again for some of the responses

I had this same problem on the email account I've got through my university. Here's what I did that fixed the problem for me:

Settings --> Mail --> Picked the problem email account --> Advanced --> Deleted Mailbox --> Switched the selected folder from the Trash folder On The iPhone to the Trash folder On The Server.

Hope it helps. Good luck.

Hey when I went to settings for my aol mail the trash settings was on iPhone trash, I changed it to aim trash and then it started to work. Now I have no more problems with deleting my old mail, spam and so on. So everyone with the same problem with aol switch the settings to aim trash, it will fix everything!!! The only thing is that u won't see an option for aim trash, you will now see trash.

I had the same problem with gmail. I fiddled with advanced imap settings in gmail (enabled through labs) and it more or less fixed itself.

Just putting this out so people know whats up.

I had the same issue with a personal IMAP account.
Found a post that said to make sure under Settings>Advanced>Deleted items that it was pointing to "On my iPhone Trash" mine was but i changed it temporarily and then put it back to "On my iPhone Trash" it worked after that.

I'm having the same problem with my exchange account, except there aren't any options to change the trash preferences...I tried deleting the account and also resetting the iphone. Any ideas?

So, originally I had my iPhone set to deleting to "Deleted Messages" -- a folder that the iPhone installed in my root directory. That was the setting that was still in effect after the update to 2.2, but that obviously no longer worked.

Once I changed it to "iPhone Trash," as others reported, it worked again, but now I can't get my iPhone to send e-mails. It says that "no password" is entered for my account, yet I see the "bullets" there and I when I enter a new password it still won't send. :(

Anyone else have this problem? Thanks, Apple, for screwing me up instead of helping me.

Delete AOL email on iPhone 2.2 - This worked for me!

To delete AOL messages on your iPhone:

Log on to AOL. Create a new folder (I called mine "iPhone Trash").

On your iPhone:

Settings --> Mail --> Go to your AOL email account --> Advanced --> Deleted Mailbox --> Switched the selected folder from "Trash folder on the iPhone" to the new trash folder you created on the server (in my case iPhone Trash).

The first time you go back to your AOL account and go to Mailboxes, you will see the folder you created for a second but then it will disappear. A Trash folder will then appear. It's wierd.

This worked flawlessly for me. :)

Did just as hobbbz said and mine works fine now. Aol now deleting:)

Same....I did just as Hobzz had posted and my AOL deletes fine on my phone again. Only complaint would be that it doesn't delete my mail on the server. So when i go back onto my computer and check aol mail on my macbook, i still have to delete all the mail out of the "old mail" folder on the server. Used to just wipe my emails completely off the aol mail server....stupid update ruined that i spose...
