For some reason I've got some rogue items in my calender on my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2.1). They appear on my iPhone, but not on my MobileMe web calendar OR my iCal on my Macbook Pro (which is also synced).

I already tried removing the calendar from the iPhone:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > MobileMe account
There i deselected the calendar followed my "Remove from iPhone".

All items where removed, calendar was empty.

I reselected the calendar ans let it sync. Everything returned again, also the many duplicates.

I also tried removing them manually from my iPhone, but after deleting them, they dissapear for a ms and then return.

I had the same problem, was my wife's old calendar still showing up as a subscribed calendar even though it wasn't showing on anything else (Mac or me.com). I turned off calendar syncing on my iDevices, let it erase all the calendars from the device, then turned Calendar Sync back on again....problem was solved. :)

So the thing I tried (but didn't work) worked for you? Or did I misunderstand?

No, you understood right. The only thing I can think of is make sure you have turned off all calendaring on your iDevice. Another trick is to also remove it from the multitasking bar (double-tap the Home button) before you remove it, that way nothing resides in memory.
